Trampoline Myths - Vuly Play.jpg

Here are some of my favourite myths...busted. We get a bunch of calls to come through to our HQ and we've got some of the most asked questions right here about our trampolines.

Trampolines cause upset stomachs

Trampolines are actually good for your digestive system. The contraction and relaxation of muscles when bouncing cleans out your digestive tract. For people with digestive issues, like IBS, trampolining can help to regulate your intestinal muscle movement.

However, if trampolines were to cause some upset stomachs, it would primarily be to kiddoes jumping straight on after eater, which in this case we recommend the food digest properly before hopping back on the trampoline.

Trampolines stunt growth

This is one of the biggest myths out there, and the answer might surprise you.

Trampolines don't stunt growth, in fact, they can help facilitate growing bodies and provide some marginal growth. This is due to the health benefits that trampolines provide including, healthy cardiopulmonary function, surge in hormones and bone health. All of which are needed for growing!

For those that might think trampolines can stunt growth, this is due to possible injuries that are associated with any outdoor activity. We are the biggest advocates of trampoline safety, reach out to us if you had any trampoline safety concerns.

All trampolines are the same

If you've shopped around for a round trampoline, you would know this is 'myth busted' right away! Trampolines come in a range of shapes and sizes and even the mechanics of the trampoline can differ from one to another.
You can buy rectangular or circular trampolines, in-ground or above the ground, spring or springless trampolines and the list goes on. If you don't know what trampoline you need to buy you can read up on our trampoline buying guide.

Trampolines kill your grass

This is a myth that can be true and false. It all depends on where you live and where you install your trampoline. In some cases, that actually help your grass grow! You can read more about if trampolines kill grass here.

Trampolines are dangerous

If you said this in 2000 or earlier, we would have agreed with it. Trampolines used to be equipment feared by many families due to the number of injuries associated with them. From landing on the springs to falling off the trampoline, trampolines used to be very dangerous outdoor play equipment.

But fast forward to today, trampolines have come a long way and is now considered one the safest outdoor play equipment you can buy. This also depends on where you purchase from. Vuly has spent years improving on our designs and refining our build quality. With our advanced enclosure, it is impossible to touch the frame or falls off the trampoline, and we encourage safe and responsible play at all times.

I'm too old for trampolines

This sounds like an excuse more than a myth. Trampolines are made for everyone, whether your 6 years old or 60 If you still have healthy bones. Regardless of age, we recommend seeking professional advice if you suffer from a chronic disease or sustained a recent injury.
