Trampoline Rebounding For Health

As the world's obesity problem reaches epidemic proportions, many people are searching for fun ways to exercise that will improve their wellbeing. In addition to those people wanting to make lifestyle changes, workout enthusiasts of all ages are also looking towards trampoline based workout plans, which are also known as rebounding plans.

It's commonly known that adopting a trampolines exercise plan is excellent way to rebound into a healthy size, but did you know that it could also increase bone density, detoxify the body, and stimulate the immune system?

According to Rubin and Bulwer, weight loss experts and authors of Perfect Weight America, “Jumping on a trampoline is one of the best and most complete anaerobic exercises you can do, since jumping strengthens muscles, tendons, and ligaments—and demands great energy.” In their book they go on to say, “The acceleration, deceleration, and gravity pull positively stress your bones, which results in higher bone density.”

Higher bone density has been linked to stronger bones and a decreased incidence of fractures, which is especially important for children and adolescents. Growing bodies benefit from the active play and gentle weight training that trampolines provide. Bruce Fife, the author of Rebound to Better Health, states that weight-bearing exercise, like rebounding on a trampoline, helps protect against osteoporosis later in life — a condition that is on the rise in America.

"Rebound exercise is "the most efficient and most effective form of exercise yet devised by man… (because) it does not just strengthen the muscles, but it strengthens every single cell of the body, both muscle and nonmuscle,” he says.

“It strengthens the bones, cartilage, joints, and every organ of the body. The liver, pancreas, kidneys, brain, etc. are all subjected to the increased gravitational force of rebounding and will respond by growing stronger. In so doing, they build up increased resistance to disease. As a result, all of the systems and organs of the body function more efficiently.”

Fife is not alone in his findings. More studies now suggest that the gentle rebounding of trampolines directly affect the lymphatic system and immune function — a proposal that is getting more and more media and medical attention.

Michelle Shoffro Cook, the author of The 4-Week Ultimate Body Detox Plan: A Program for Greater Energy, Health, and Vitality, similarly advocates bouncing on a trampoline to stimulate the lymphatic system.

"Rebounding not only offers a good cardiovascular workout, it helps the lymphatic system to flow, resulting in fewer toxins,” she says. “Rebounding reduces any strain on joints that you may experience with other forms of exercise"

She goes on to say, "I recommend rebounding daily throughout the 4-Week Ultimate Body Detox Plan and continuing it to maintain lymphatic system cleansing.”

Fife agrees, and says, "As a method of detoxification, rebound exercise is an excellent internal cleanser. The up-and-down motion compresses and decompresses the body tissues and fluids. Toxins are squeezed out of cells and tissues as lymph fluid is pushed throughout the body.

As a result of this pumping action, toxins are washed out of tissues throughout the entire body, and flushed out. Rebound exercise is such an effective detoxifier that it can initiate a healing crisis in a matter of days. Fife's statements may be bold, but they are by no means implausible.”

In fact, Fife's beliefs have many supporters. His research is backed up in Jordan Rubin and Fiona Blair's book, The Great Physician's RX for Children's Health.

"Jumping on a trampoline does a lot more than let your kids burn off their afternoon snack, though” they say.

“Rebounding affects every organ of their growing bodies and is directly related to the efficiency of the lymphatic system, which produces and stores cells that fight infection…. The lymphatic system relies on body movement to open and close the one-way valves that transport lymphatic cells throughout the body and release toxic build up. The up-and-down rhythmic bouncing causes all of the lymphatic system's one-way valves to open up, which increases flow by as much as fifteen times. Instead of germs, viruses, and bacteria remaining locked within the lymphatic system, jumping around on a rebounder breaks up the inertia and sends the germs and toxins on their way to elimination by the body.”

So how does rebounding on a trampoline affect your ability to fight off disease?

The lymphatic system is a system of vessels in the body that serve to trap foreign (toxic) substances. Trapping these toxins, also known as detoxification, removes the toxic substances that our bodies are bombarded by every day.

When an individual participates in activities that stimulate the lymphatic system, like rebounding on a trampoline, he or she simultaneously fire up his or her immune system. The increased immune system then further protects against bacteria, viruses, and other dangerous forces.

Health expert Denise Whichello Brown cites the many advantages to detoxification and states, "Rest assured that you will soon feel absolutely wonderful as your body detoxifies. Some of the many benefits include weight loss, high energy levels, less or no cellulite, smooth, glowing skin, less stress and tension, clear headedness, positive state of mind, improved concentration, shiny lustrous hair and strong nails, no bloating, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, or indigestion, fewer or no aches and pains, healthy immune system with fewer colds, no headaches, deeper and more restful sleep, no mood swings, and fresh, sweet-smelling breath.”
